Edwards Student named entrepreneur champ

Edwards School of Business student Jared Koehl has been named Saskatchewan's 2015 student entrepreneur provincial champion by Enactus Canada

02-13-2015

Edwards School of Business student Jared Koehl has been named Saskatchewan's 2015 student entrepreneur provincial champion by Enactus Canada, Canada’s largest student leadership development organization, and program supporter the John Dobson Foundation.

As the owner of  Jared Koehl Enterprises, a residential and commercial painting business, Koehl won the competition because of his hard work, passion and ability to find and foster incredible employees.

“The biggest thing that sets a fire underneath me is wanting to push myself to new boundaries in order to better myself for the future,” said Koehl. “At the same time, it’s also about trying to find an outlet to inspire others to set big goals, take big steps and try and do something that other people say they can’t.”

“Jared is a very hardworking young entrepreneur,” explained Nicole Almond, Enactus Canada president. “This entrepreneurial spirit is what built this country and we want to encourage and celebrate this in young leaders across Canada.”

Koehl will now go on to compete against three other regional champions on March 13 at the Enactus Canada Regional Exposition (Western Canada) in Calgary, for the regional title and the chance to move on to the 2015 Enactus Canada National Exposition in Toronto in May. The national champion will receive a $10,000 cash prize and take home the John Dobson Cup.

“This is an extremely difficult competition, and the Edwards School is proud of his achievement in Saskatchewan and wishes him the best in the regional competition,” said Daphne Taras, dean of the Edwards School of Business. “We expect a bright future for Jared.”
